30th Annual Piedmont Racing Expo
MOTORSPORTS TRADE SHOW, AUCTION, & RACER"S REUNION
Friday-Saturday, January 15-16, 2016
This past January was our 29th Annual Piedmont Racing Expo and Auction. Diane and I, along with many of our family and friends have worked hard over these 29 years to not only grow our event, but to also make it a great short track event. Many of you may remember the rain at OCS, the icebox at Grower’s Warehouse, the ice and snow at Roxboro, the rain at Durham, and since 2005, the nice facilities we have at the State Fairgrounds.
As with racing, whether it’s the lead dog in a Dog Sled Race or the driver coming to the checkers at the Martinsville LMSC 300, there comes a time when the older lead dog must move over and let the younger, stronger dog take the lead. That time has come for Diane and me. I am pleased to announce that Kenneth Smithey, one of our Auctioneers here at the Expo, along with his soon to be bride, Beth, will be assuming the lead for the Piedmont Racing Expo & Auction effective with the 2016 event. Diane and I will still be assisting and auctioneering, but we are turning over the operations management of the event to Smithey’s Funwood Auction. Many of the staff will be returning as well, but you will see some younger faces in the years to come as many of us “age out”.
That being said, we’d like to say a big THANK YOU to all who have assisted us for the last 29 years in making this event successful, and we welcome the new and young blood to the event. Please join us in welcoming Kenneth and Beth with Smithey’s Funwood Auction. Kenneth is a former racer, both on Dirt and Asphalt, and can sometimes be seen driving vintage racers now! He runs a successful auction firm out of Reidsville, NC and we are pleased to pass our part of racing history on to him and his firm.
Thanks to all our consignors, customers and clients. Many of you have become our good friends over the years. We encourage you to give Kenneth and Beth the same consideration and support you’ve given us over the years. They in turn will be working hard to continue providing the type of customer service you’ve been accustomed to. We’ll see all of you back here next year!

Again we plan to have a great group of vendors with anything any racer would need! We had a full house both days and sold over1200 lots thru the auction last year. Special thanks to our Grand Marshall, former GN Driver Gene Hobby for organizing all the drivers for the Autograph Session.
Join us as we enter our 29th year for our annual short track motorsports trade show and auction. With the assistance of Holley, Butlerbuilt, and RacersReunion Radio, we'll have our Fifth Annual Racers Reunion as part of the Expo at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. We invite you to join us in our third decade of servicing short-track racers across the Southeast US including racers from NC, SC, Virginia, Maryland, Georgia, Indiana, West Virginia, Florida, and Tennessee.
Our shows are well respected in racing circles and our event is the longest running annual trade show and auction in the Southeast United States. Phillip Walker, promoter and auctioneer, is no stranger to racing, motor-sports auctions, and racing parts. Behind the wheel of a race car for 20 years, this veteran racer has garnered three track championships, owned a racing parts distributorship for 10 years, and has over 30 years of motor-sports auctioneering experience.
This racing expo is the perfect place for vendors to showcase products and services to the racing community. Our racing clientele includes short-track stock car racers, dirt track racers, vintage/old-timer racers, drag racers, plus muscle car and street rod enthusiasts. We provide a targeted audience of potential customers for you. Come on out and join us to jumpstart 2015!
